July 13

Today was a free day for us, our first since arriving in China. Melody was up around 5:30, ready to eat. The rest of us could have used more sleep, but we made up for it in naps. Melody and I crashed around 9:30 and didn’t wake up until noon! Today has been good for figuring out more of her schedule. As far as I can tell, her periods of wakefulness last about 3.5 to 4 hours. She takes two naps per day, but we're still not sure how long they should be. We've also managed to transition her to using regular bottle nipples with the cleft valve insert, which makes eating a lot less messy. There is still so much to figure out about her!

This afternoon we got Melody's Chinese passport, her birth record, her abandonment record, and her adoption decree. It's very cool to have these official documents.

Here are some pictures from our day.

"Uh oh, you caught me..."

"But I'm so cute you can't resist, can you?"

Me and my girls.

You look very happy, Erica with both girls on your lap. The girls look great too!! Thanks for sharing more photos. Sounds like things are going well (except sleep!)

Have a great rest of the week and I"m sure you're ready to be home soon.

I like the last picture of you w/ the girls! cute!

also, i'm not sure how or when or if it would apply to Melody (just because it may take her a few months to adjust and be on a "normal" baby schedule) but healthy sleep habits, happy child is a great sleep book. I think he would say she needs like 1-2 hours per nap. i can't quite remember but that seems accurate.

Good luck figuring it out!
