One year ago we received a phone call that literally changed our lives forever. On April 4th, 2007, I picked up the receiver to hear that our adoption agency had the file of a little girl they thought may be the one for us. I remember scribbling down the information, hanging up, and running upstairs to tell my mother-in-law what had just happened. It was perfect timing for her to be here since she would be traveling to China with us too. As it turned out, the adoption took place on her birthday! So, she and I made our way back downstairs to wait for the email with the longed-for photos. Here is what we saw: 
What a beautiful little girl! Larry and I spent the next couple of weeks settling on her name, trying to choose between Jiana and Melody. Then came the wait to get to her. Nine months ago, Melody Joy SiWei was placed in our arms and we've never looked back. What an amazing person she is, and how blessed are we to get to be her parents.

I was sitting on the airplane, getting ready to fly to CO when I got your message about Melody! What a happy day. I know your lives are fuller because Melody is a part of yours, but I also know Melody is blessed to be a part of your family!

Can you beleive we have had our girls for nine months now?? It literally seems like yesterday that we were stranded in Hong Kong at the airport, ha! That seemed like such a long trip when really it was over in a blink. Our "phone call day" is the 10th, hard to beleive!!!

Has it been a year already? I remember seeing Melody's picture for the first time and thinking how incredibly beautiful she was! And the name Melody Joy suits her perfectly!!!

Don' you wonder just how many layers of clothing she had to have on? You can hardly see her because she's lost in all those clothes! I think it's so funny! And what a change-in those pics she's clearly a baby and now she's clearly a toddler.
