3 Letters: I - E - P

Where have I gone, you may wonder? Julie's annual IEP meeting is on Tuesday and it is honestly consuming my time. I have so much to learn about advocating for my daughter, and I will admit that it doesn't come naturally to me. By nature, I hate confrontation, but I'm finding there's no way around it when it comes to IEP's. Even when everybody is 100% committed to a child and her needs, there will still be disagreements and negotiations and "issues." I just spent a few hours crafting an email that I hope strikes the right balance to get what we feel Julie needs without alienating the very people who will provide it. More work needs to be done tomorrow too. Right now I need to go to bed. Good night!

What's IEP? Is it for school? What sort of things need advocating?

We'll need to be doing that soon, too. *sigh*

Prayer will be going forth for you all.

Hope everything went well for you. Although the school is responsible for providing certain things, the parent must really be their child's biggest advocate to make sure they do everything and in a timely manner. Even though it might be difficult for you, it will mean so much for your daughter. Here's to you being pushy, outspoken, and whatever else you need to be for your sweetie!!

Hi Erica,
My goodness "the firsts" are biggies!!!! I love Julie's glasses and Melody's antenna's (pony tails).

I have had experience on the teacher side of IEP's. If you have questions, then I would be glad to try to help or find out answers to the questions you may have.

Just remember you are Julie's advocate and remember we are all behind you.
