I'm embarassed to say that my sweet potatos have sprouted, but I'm fascinated that they sprout in purple! I love sweet potatos and I had every intention of using the box we bought, but both kids gagged when they tried them. I even sweetened them up and everything. It's so odd. The kids almost never gag on anything, but this did it to both of them. I'm thinking it was a texture issue, but I don't know. I think I'm going to try making sweet potato pie and see how that goes over. Sorry to those of you who want to see pictures of my smiling sweet kids instead of my sprouting sweet potatos...more of those tomorrow!

Ok, had to comment on this one. Just had some sweet potatoes last night, yum. In our place they never stay long enough to grow sprouts but it is cool to know that it grows purple :-).
But how exactly did you sweeten the sweet potatoes for J and M?
I have a really good recipe from my sister-in-law for a dessert type/side dish. I have always, always always disliked sweet potatoes, no matter how they are prepared, but I absolutely love this recipe! I have made it several times for both Christmas and Thanksgiving. I eat the leftovers for breakfast for about a week straight. Let me know if you want it!
Cool about the purple, too bad about them going bad.
We can buy purple potatoes at our State Fair each year. Amazingly they taste like potatoes.
